HIQUA are big in the news today on account of the Tallaght Hospital report . I noticed that as on previous occassions when HIQUA staff are interviewed not a single one appears to be from Ireland , it seems to be almost entirely staffed by British people - any reason for this or is it just my ( false ) perception ?

    Your perception.

    Why does it matter anyway?

It matters because it could suggest that no appropriately qualified staff were available in Ireland which in turn might indicate that quality in Healthcare is or has been a low priority.

My post is not a veiled form of Xenophobia.

There is a section for positions in HIQA on publicjobs.ie so presumably they were open to all who wanted to apply.

Well according to the Indo the head of HIQA, Dr Tracey Cooper has full confidence in the health service:
    http://www.independent.ie/national-news/health-critics-refuse-to-reveal-if-they-have-private-cover-3005790.html
The issue has been thrust into the spotlight by the chief of the country’s patients’ watchdog HIQA, who said she didn’t have private insurance.
Dr Tracey Cooper last week said to do so would show a lack of faith in the public system.

Call me a cynic....but....the head of HIQA is the person in th ewhole country who least needs health insurance.

Picture it now. Gormless post call SHO telling consultant about patient he saw. Consultant here's name Dr Tracey Cooper.......why do I know that name????/ Hmmmmm.... OH MY GOD..........

Next thing you know - consutltant from every relevant team will consult, CEO will approve every test no matter how expensive

The above reminds me of the British politician Dennis Healey ( sometimes called The Greatest Prime Minister Britain never had ) , as a Labour party member he railed against private medicine but when his wife needed surgery ( gallstones I think ) guess where she went to ?
