    http://carrickmotorauction.com

I just came across this auction on saturday!
im wondering has anyone ever bought from these and are they one of the bigger auctions and what are peoples experiences?
do they provide guarantee like, that if buy a car that has a bad clutch and you were not told would you have a comeback?
and finally do cars go for cheaper money than private sale? and are their bargains to be got?

    Thanks

    Never bought from them.

Auctions are for the brave and traders who know their stuff. You will not get a Guarantee and have no comeback. Take someone experienced with you if your thinking of buying. You probably won't have any chance to drive the car, never a good thing.
Cars will be cheaper than a Garage, Will they go cheaper than a private sale, hard to say, there's some desperate sellers out there you might get a car just as right in a private sale.

Pick the car you really want, do your research on potential problems, budget them into the price you pay, assume everything the seller tells you is a complete lie budget for that as well.

If you tell us what kind of car your after and what your thinking of spending i'm sure a good few of us will come back with some suggestions.

This auction is new, I know someone who bought a diesel bmw there and she is happy with it.
Great to see an auction in Tipperary.

Auctions are a good place to buy a car, as long as you research the cars your interested in, go down early enough to give them a good look over, and most importantly, set yourself an upper limit on the car that you will not go past in the bidding. Its very easy to get carried away if you are bidding against a couple of other people and think, sure I'll just throw another hundred at it. you can very quickly end up spending a grand more than you expected

And remember, when the hammer drops you've bought the car, so dont bid unless you've the money to buy

if you're lucky you'll get to start it ( if it runs ) and check the clutch...

everything else is judged by eyes and ears ( taking all documentation available with the usual pinch of salt )

do you're homework on what you want, bring an experianced mechanic...

    ???

    Profit :D

generally you have a period to check it once the keys are put out. probably 30 minutes.

If your coming into Carrick from the Waterford side its in the industrial estate on the left before the petrol station, The day I passed it there was just a handwritten sign to advertise it.
That was a few weeks ago.

If you find out when its on again please post it here cheers.

    Cool, thanks hamco.

I saw the ad for them on DoneDeal; they had several cars advertised up there individually with guide prices for them as well. Hopefully they'll do that again in future.

I saw a bunch of ads on DoneDeal for this auction again. It's on this Saturday, 29th September. Viewing from 9:30am – Auction starts at 12:00 noon.

Got to DoneDeal.ie and search for 'carrick motor auction'. There must be nearly a hundred individual car ads up on the site at the moment!

I fancy the old Merc S-Class but I bet you wouldn't for the guide price of €500!

The buzz of the places, the scum bags that pull ht leads out and try to tell people around this car ain't running right to keep price low, did anyone on here go to this place lately .?

I've seen the handwritten sign as I passed last week.A prettty amateurish effort.

It would not instill confidence. Silly I know but there it is.
