You put it over a scopes objective lense to neutralize a distinctive shine/reflection you can get from scopes when they catch sunlight. For airsoft it can serve a more practical purpose by protecting your scope.

    As above.

Basically it is normally a screw-in insert made out of hexagonal mesh. The purpose of it in airsoft is two-fold; one of the biggest giveaways in a forest is the glare of reflected light off of the lens of a scope - you can spot people for miles. The Killflash eliminates this by not providing as much surface area for reflection.

The second reason, and most pertinent for me personally, is that it offers an additional layer of protection for the sight. Any "Murphy's Law" BB's heading straight for your sight will instead collide with the aforementioned hexagonal mesh, which affords the sight a second skin...the equivalent of wearing a helmet and leathers on a bike :)

Scopes use different size objective lenses, so be sure to get one of a suitable diameter (e.g. Aimpoint Military sights are 30mm, ACOG TA-31's are 32mm etc)

    For example:

The one on the left looks pretty useless. Try Redwolf or Firesupport as well. I got one a year or so ago, they're hard to find but well worth it.

You can always make your own as well. Just buy some mesh, cut to shape, and fit. You don't have to worry about finding one the right size then :)
