    Chaps.

Mate has a spanking new Carbon Schwarz X5.

What do we need to get hold of to protect the paint finish and keep her looking brand new ?

No need for a DA obviously but the finger marks will need removing.

At the moment, even a finger wiped over the surface marks it.

    Ta.

Wash it well, hand polish it with something link Chemical Guys P40.
Wash it down again with a good APC mixture.

Sealing it then depends on how the owner will look after it or what they want out of the protection - looking extremely well vs long lasting protection.

Looking extremely well - waxes look best on Black - Chemical Guys Pete's 53 or Autoglym HD Wax (good durabilty) will look great

Long lasting protection - sealant - something like Chemical Guys Jetseal 109 or Wolf's Body Wrap (I had one coat on the car since Oct and its lasted well up until about 6 weeks ago, still a bit left)

Would also recommend they seal the wheels to make them easier to clean - Jetseal 109 is used quite a few people, so that'll kill two with one stone, or Chemical Guys Wheel Guard is good too!

    Hope this helps!

You need to go beyond waxes and sealants and look at coatings instead. CQuartz or Gtechniq are the best. Google them for information or check Detailing World. ;)

One thing to note with coatings such as gtechniq, CQuartz and also Wolf's Body Wrap is that the paint work should be blemish free before applying.
For example, if you appy it and then afterwards you notice a bit of swirling, hologram, hand print, etc, etc, that you might think, I'll fix that by hand in 10 minutes and re-apply, you wont be able to do it. The only way to remove the layer is to machine polish it. Clay won't do anything.

With the traditional waxes and sealants, APC and clay will remove them easily, so you could fix any issues quickly and with a lot less hassle.

The products mentioned above offer fantastic protection and durability. They are extremely expensive, relative to the size of the bottle, but they spread very well, so a little goes a long way.

True. There are arguments for and against everything available whether wax, sealant or coating. I do like 303 on my wheels but never really got on with jetseal. Didn't offer what I like in a protector, but its just my opinion.

Best advice for him would be to wash it properly (2 bucket method with mitt) from the start. Will make looking after the paint so much easier in the long run.
