There's a browser game I want to find again that I used to play and like but I can't remember the name at all.

Space based
Start off at one planet and expand to other planets nearby, the rush at first was to get all the unoccupied planets before making war
Can't remember the resources used but research was important to range of your ships and their speed
The map kinda looked like - http://www.hyperiums.com/screenshots/Map_bp.png except with less people and it displayed your boarder or sensor range.
New players where limited to 5 newbie games at any one time, paying players got access to more.

It's been a good while since I played it so it might not be around any more but it's worth a shot
