Simple question - why have you not paid him? What sort of credit terms did you agree with him?

Really I am not surprised he is annoyed as it's going to take him 16 months to get paid for materials he has supplied to that he would have already had to pay his suppliers for.

Pay up . Settle your account with him before inflicting your "custom" on the next guy.

You probably paid up front for the plasterboard too.

Shop I deal in too had tradesmen walking out, owing hundreds, some thousands, now they go to Woodies and B & Q and pay at the till on the way out.

Your supplier has been more than patient with you and you have a neck as hard as a jockeys ass to complain, aw but Im giving him €100 per week! What do you expect , a bottle of whiskey, a clap on the back.

I am now retired but was a plumber / gas fitter and some times builder. I always valued a good supplier and treated them with the respect I expected and got back.

To be honest I think you have a cheek, you got a jammy deal (very jammy) where the supplier extended a huge line of credit that enabled you to build your house, and anybody else would have had to get a bank loan or mortgage.

I used to pay on delivery ether in cash or bank draft, in return I expected delivery on the promised date and the fittings etc as agreed.

I had a good reputation and new I could ask favours, as could they.

The days of the Celtic tiger are gone thank God and the old values have to return. Mutual respect between customers and suppliers were and will be part of it.

If I had fitted the heating and plumbing in your house would you have expected me to except X amount a month in payment? Would I get irate if I saw another plumbers van on site while I was still owed money? You bet

    Hey everyone,

I am fuming at the moment. Ive built a house and owe approx 8 grand to my builder supplier but i pay 500euro every 4 weeks and sometimes more. I have given the same company over 40grand to date over the last year and half and after promising me substantial discount, i never got it when it came to payment time, that is why i only pay him off now. From then on i said i would price around as i felt hard done by after giving him so much money.

I was in work today and had 14 missed calls on my mobile from my builder supplier between 3.40pm and 5.20pm!!!!! I rang back to find out he had called to my property and looked in the windows to find i had purchased plasterboard elsewhere. He had asked me on the phone if i had bought it, knowing i had and he told me he was so angry that i didnt purchase it from him. He gave me a big rundown about how many staff he has to employ and how many wages he has to pay. I am paying this man every 4 weeks and cant believe he called to my property!!!!

Any suggestions on what i should do?????

Pay the man the 8 K that you owe him .

Disclosure: I work in the Construction industry (not a supplier)

You have no idea the pain your inflicting on your supplier. I dont know the terms of your credit, but you can be rest assured, that the supplier does not have the same deal with his distributor.

Basically he is loosing money every day your not paying him. The fact you went to another supplier is a slap in the face to your original supplier.

As someone whose profession it is to make sure people get paid promtly, i know first hand the hand to mouth situation most these guys are in. Litterally, a thousand quid could close some of the few business that are left.

To reply directly to the question you have asked, you need to sort this out with your supplier, by either clearing your outstanding invoice or going in and sitting down with him and thrashing out your differences. Doing this over the phone will only lead to bad things i can assure you of this.

Again, no-one can really comment without knowing the terms of your agreement with him.

At the rate you are paying it will be September 2013 when he is paid for the materials you are using to build your home.
Pay the man what you owe, I think you have him confused with a bank.
