Replacing 1366x768 with 1920x1080 on a laptop

I bought a custom built laptop - I'll receive it over a next few days. There was an option to go with intel HD 4000 and a 1366x768 screen OR an nvidia card and a 1920x1080 screen. I didn't want nvidia (lack of cooperation of the vendor with the linux community), so I picked intel. Now the question: is it possible to replace the screen with a 1920x1080 screen?

I'm not worried about performance - gimp/blender and vim are not too demanding :D

Yes, you can usually replace the screens on laptops. I wouldn't expect any major differences in terms of connectors. There is occasionally differences in thickness so you might have to replace the supporting frame too. You'd have to check out the compatibility with your individual model. Of course, the price could be pretty high for a new screen.

Thanks for the info! I'm a bit surprised because pcspecialist page shows that the price for a screen for my laptop is the same for 1366x768 and 1920x1080 - both are priced at £49. Does the price sound right?

Shipping to Ireland for a tenner, so I'd have the upgrade for 74 euro.

The 1366x768 could be LED where as the 1920x1080 could be LCD.
