    Hi,
im about to fit a pair of ceiling speakers. I have a metal framed suspended ceiling. What im wondering is will i need to add support to the speakers to hold them up on the plasterboard. Speakers weigh 1.4kg each, but there is 10ft between them.

i thinking of putting a couple of 1/4 inch thick pieces of timber under the speaker mounts. Im hoping the pieces will be long enough to give support while spreading the load.

has anyone done anything like this before, or have any other suggestions.
As they each weigh 1.4kg, i presument the plasterboard wont be strong enough by themselves.

I've seen this done many times without any problems. However you don't say how far apart the metal framing is holding the ceiling up. is it 600 x 600 mm
You could also use another piece of framing over the existing ceiling at 45 degrees to the existing, just to carry the weight of the Speakers.
