i agree, it's an average course and too hilly, quite expensive around that area though,i'm waiting for Greystones to drop their joining fee then i'm going to pounce.

According to their website, there is a clubhouse levy (redeemable against bar / catering or casual green fees) to be paid on top of the €1,700.

This would bring the total cost of the package to €2,000, which is a bit pricey nowadays.

How do you judge good value? As many now courses can now be played for €20-30, you would need to play at least 60 time a year for that to be good value.

Nice course, good club with a long tradition etc. but I appreciate that probably doesn't matter a shoite to most people.

Assume no hello money? Just 1700 per year and no hello?

Have to say, if I was to spend 1700 plus 300 bar tab I would not be looking at Delgany. Very hilly as already said, its also supposedly struggling with debt (hope u did due dilligence).

Druids Heath is €1500, Bray is doing all sorts of deals and Glen of the Downs is offering deals based on pay per month (no risk).

I would personally head for Powerscourt, two excellent courses and a fabulous facility for little over €2k.

Wicklow just down the road doing similar offers - see attached. Also Blainroe would have to come into the equation in terms of proximity. You're talking about an extra 15 minutes max on the N11.

I have to agree, €1700 plus €300 is almost the same amount as Powerscourt. If I had that kind of money it would be Powerscourt everytime over Delgany

Lads I looked at Druids heath - 1500 euro .. The course was in terrible condition , I wasn't impressed - Delgany has a special place for me as I spent my childhood playing there as a junior member - 1700 for a year NO extras to me is a fair / excellent price ... Also being paid by direct debit .. Played my 1st 18 holes today and it was fantastic ! And all the members are very welcoming

A shame a request for fellow members turned into the usual Irish bemoaning and b*tching session by some of the posts.. For those who wished me well in the club , many thanks lads

    Enjoy the summer golf!!!

yes Bray is hilly but most of the walks bar the 10th are from green to tee, there are a few beasts in Delgany where it's uphill all the way,i'm not a big fan of Bray but i find it an easier walk than Delgany.

you were the one who decided to mention the price you paid and the fact that it was 'great value',are we then not allowed comment on this?
The general consences is that's not 'great' value, don't be soo sensitive.

Had you just posted that you just joined and left it at that would be fine but you seem to beleive it's great value so good luck with it.

    Consensus not consences...

I mentioned price after being asked by a boards member not in my original post looking for members ... Again revert to my sentiment - typical negative reply to a post looking for fellow members

Enjoy your Summer golf all the same

Fair point - 2/3 monster holes hill wise in delgany , I like the varying type of course though I must admit

If it suits the players needs and they are happy paying the price then it is good value. However I would not see it as a good value as I would live a little too far away for it and would not get out enough. Best of luck. I just wished I live nearer Headfort in Kells - now that would be good value - about €900 for 2 courses.

Back on topic .. Any members please feel free to post- I'd love to hear from you - anyone with any other agenda , please don't bother posting ( that reads harsh so apologies , just everyone hates time wasters )
