Can someone keep the medical card and work part-time

My aunt has been a widow for years and has a daughter who is 13. She claims the widows pension and would love to return to work part time. She is afraid to loose the medical card because her daughter needs to go to the GP quiet often and she has said she could not afford to loose it. Would she be able to keep the medical card and go back to work part time while claiming the widows pension.

She should be claiming one parent family payment, unless she is receiving a contributory pension.
