    • 35mm Rangefinder
    • Manual Controls
    • Built in Meter (semi optional)
    • jacket pocket sized, or at least would fit in a very small bag
    • Focal length between 35 and 50mm (or interchangeable lens, with cheap lens options)
    • f/2.8 or better
    • Under 50 bucks on ebay or similar

I'd love to buy such a thing! Bonus points if it had a nice chrome retro feeling body

Pretty definitive source with comparisons, pros/cons etc etc:

    http://www.cameraquest.com/com35s.htm

In particular the Olympus RC (or one of the related bodies) would probably do the job

    http://www.cameraquest.com/olyrc.htm

I met someone a while back who was carrying one around as a pocket camera. Tiny and gorgeous. The pictures don't do it justice.

There's always the XA as well, but no manual override, just Aperture priority.

If you want to disregard the meter there are all the FSU rangefinders to consider aswell, with interchangeable lenses.

Thanks Daire, some great info in those links!

This quote is exactly what's leading me down this path:
a small pocketable camera which can easily be taken everywhere.

RCs generally go for a lot more than €50, i'd suspect? they were asking STG£250 in london high street prices, last time i was over.

They seem to be around €50 or so on ebay.co.uk, or at least some of them have gone for that and look as though they're in good nick. The shop you saw them in didn't have them beside their customary stock of over priced lomo garbage did they :) ?
