Interesting routes around 70km

    Hi all,

Myself and a friend are training up a bit for a cycle we are doing in September and are looking to do a 70km (or so,can be a bit more if needs be) in the next few weeks.

We're thinking of going somewhere interesting to do it, just for a change of scenery. Both of us cycle in Dublin at the moment.

I'm willing to drive almost anywhere in the country (if it's worth it!) if anyone knows of any decent routes that are interesting with decent scenery.

Don't mind hills, though I think constant hills would kill us both! :D Moderate levels of fitness, hence the training up! To give an idea, we can both do 35km in just under 2 hours.

    Any thoughts? :)

Myself and a few mates try to do one of these at least once or twice a year but over a long weekend. Usually it's around 60-70 km a day, sometimes more. Some of the nicest was down in kerry. We left from dingle and went out all along the peninsulas down there. Can't remember the distance but it should be easy enough to check on map my ride. The scenary was really stunning going along the coast roads. It helped that the weather was nice on those days

There's an easy-going, friendly 65km road spin around Benbulben / Datry Mountains this coming Sunday, if you fancied a weekend to Sligo?
Very scenic, mountains, lakes and ocean... relaxed pace (20-25km/h) promised, but if you wanted to go nuts, I'm sure some local Innisfree Wheeler club members would be happy to oblige ye! :D
Meeting in Grange, just N of Sligo town at 9.30 this Sunday morn (20 May)
