Lens repair?

Well I'm just after giving my nikon 24-70 2.8 a nice smashing on some concrete. The filter thread is crushed and zooming is very very difficult. Luckily the glass wasn't damaged and all the test shots I did seem fine.

So does anyone have any experience getting lenses repaired? Dublin is probably the closest place really but I've no idea where I could get it done. Hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg :(

    AF is still working?
    Thank heavens glass is fine.
I'd say you'll pay few hundreds for repair. Consider selling it.

Yeah the AF is working normally.

That's the thing, which will cost me more, repairing it or selling it and replacing it. Realistically though, I'm not going to get much for a damaged lens, even if the damage isn't too bad.

Do you have insurance which cover accidental damage? That would be perfect.
Anyways I wouldn't rely on even slightly damaged lens as everything might happen. As far as I know some plastic elements might be broken inside the lens, so these had to be fixed or whole lens casing has to be replaced. Either way it's a pity, I know how it feels.
