you get what you pay for.

E120 will get you a guitar that is a basic instrument made in a factory by people who do not play.

seriously, they are being paid so little in the far eastern sweat shops that they cant afford to eat, let alone buy a real instrument.

a cheap instrument may be fine, but it's likely to have ...... well...... issues in quality control that may make it difficult to play...... and as a beginner, you need easy to play, right?

My advice ALAWYS is to take a friend who plays and go and buy used. your E120 will get much more used than new.

and if it turns out that you loose interest then you can sell it on and not loose out so much.

saying that, one of the best sub £500 guitars I've ever played was a £99 Jay Turser in a shop in Belfast!

I agree with martinedwards, but having said that I got a new Takamine acoustic last year for €169 including gigbag. I bought it for the kids to learn on, but it is a very nice guitar for the money. It looks, feels, sounds and plays well, so you can get some decent new acoustic guitars at the lower end of the range, but as said already bring someone who plays guitar along with you to try them out, whether buying new or second hand.
