I recently did a clean install of my late 2008 Macbook (non-unibody) I tried to pull pages, iPhoto, iWeb, numbers etc across from the external HDD i had them backed up to.
But the are asking for the licence numbers for them, which I don't have as they were pre-installed on my Macbook when i bought it. Does anyone know where I could find them?

Try looking at the Help file. You might find it in the About section.

iLife apps don't have a serial number. At most they'll ask you register with Apple, but that's optional.

And iWork (Pages, Keynote, Numbers) never came preinstalled on Macs. It has always been a separate purchase. If it came preinstalled with yours then you must have paid extra and configured your Mac on the Apple Store, in which case you would have received a card with the serial number in your Mac's documentation pack.

Thanks for that SP, your correct they were extra purchases in the Mac Store. Will try and find the card, if I can't find the card do you know of another way to get the serial ?

Call Apple. Not sure they'll be any help though.

Try opening the Mac App Store app, and look under the Purchased tab, to see if you need to Accept them under your AppleID (makes pre-installed apps up-dateable in the App Store). If they aren’t there, then it’s time to talk to Apple...

I didn't think there were serial numbers for iWork either if the retail discs were used, only if you had the trial and then purchased serial to unlock it, but maybe this was only the most recent version.
If you have the iWork DVD, I would try and reinstall from the disc(removing current install first)
