Some dealers require a deposit to hold a firearm but if they said the would hold it for you,you would think they would give you the benefit of the doubt for at least a few days:( bad form on their part IMO. I don't blame you for not wanting to go back to them.

Uhm, looks like they beat you to the punchline there? You asked them to take the gun down off their site then someone showed interest in your gun...

I would imagine they would prefer a straight sale John and would have been happier that he wasn't trading his gun in.

Probably so, but in the times we're in unless a deposit was put down I wouldn't expect a gun to be held.

    Yup.

Im sorry but sportsden did nothing wrong..

"I want to buy this shotgun"

"sorry we can't sell that as some guy rang about it and wants it"

Can't see them doing any wrong really.
    Someone else came with cash..

    There it was..

Look on the bright side you sold yours and now your on the hunt :)

money talks.. what if you went and seen it and didnt like it or if they were giving you a poor price for your gun that would mean they are after losing a sale! so they were dead right

I am very surprised at Simon in Sports Den, not like him to renege like that.

the website is not updated often at all. Have often called in to see guns advertised on the website. Had cash in pocket ready to make deposit if the gun in question was in good condition and fitted, only to find "Oh I sold that a few weeks ago" or "Oh that hasnt been in stock a few months"

Im tellin ya lads, everything and everyone is online nowdays. If lads want to do business they need a regular update and a good online site. Lads that shoot and hunt are willing to travel for the bargains.

Dont get me wrong , Simon is dead on and sound as a pound and all, but he could do an awful lot more business (as would many other dealers) if he just updated the site more often.

Agree 100% I don't mind travelling to purchase and spend hard earned scarce euros, but all the webites seem to suffer the same problem, not updated:(

If you didnt hand over money you can hardly expect him to hold a gun for you , i know myself from selling things on here ,you hold something for a lad and then they dont show up while you wait around all day like a gob****e.
Sorry he is in the right here first lad with the cash is who gets it , i learnt that the hard way myself

    Sportsden were right
If the situation was reversed e.g. you were the one who had a better offer what would you have done wait for a fella to get back to you or take the deal that was on offer
    Its a business
As regards the web his site is a lot better than most some have none at all and think the net is a new thing!

look its like this if i was going to send my gun at my own cost i think that shows that i was going to buy the gun from them if i didnt ring them to let them know that i was not sending it up till monday and not the thursday that was agreed over the phone and my shotgun arrives in the shop on a monday mor,n what then they would all be looking into the box it came in like a load of crows looking into a open wheely bin come on get with it

No money changed hands so you have no argument ,how was he to know if you would definitely send the gun up, with the market the way it is then taking the lad who is there with money first is the right option.
Talk to any gun dealer the amount of tyre kickers they get each day must be frustrating , some wont even let lads in to the gun room unless they know them.
It is business ,cash is king, you cant take lads at their word you have to take the money to pay the bills .It is just the way it is.

First come first served especially in these times.

I've dealt with sportsden before and hold them in the highest regard, couldn't say a bad word about them.

Business is business lads, first come first serve. You should of put a couple of quid down as a deposit to make sure it was kept. Id say if they had penny for everyone who said keep a gun ill be back, well they might have lots of pennies :D

I use Sportsden quite a lot and they have always been top notch
