Deciding on to buy the Nikon D3000 with the 18-55mm lens.
I'm new to photography, and looking for your opinion on the d3000..
    cheers :D

It grand - perfect for a beginner.
Why not get the D3100 - it also has HD video?

The 18-55 is a decent lens. You should look at getting a prime lens too (when the funds allow) - the AF-S DX 35mm - is a great little lens.

    Good luck and enjoy...:)

Also - get a UV filter for the lens - it will protect it from scratches.. A good investment.

It's hardly a good investment on a cheap kit lens, especially as it's the type of lens you may soon grow out of. It's usually something a pushy salesman would suggest.

Anyhoo the D3000 is a nice, basic, entry level SLR. It has a nice helpful onscreen display showing the aperture which you should find helpful at first.

As above unless you're getting a good deal consider the newer model. There's also a newer D3200 on the way shortly.
