I think I still have the world cup 90 one somewhere in the auld's house. I liked the subtle 'boomerang' effect it had when it caught the sun at the right angle.

I agree they looked really good back then. Simpler basic colours designs and the countries especially generally stuck to whatever colours they traditionally had. That all seemed to change around the mid 90s onward and each new seasons jersies seem to be even worse than last seasons.

Over on the soccer board you have posters fawning over the latest ridiculous colour schemes and the more over-designed crap on the jersey the better it seems as far as they are concerned.

    http://www.classicfootballshirts.co.uk/

Probably the best of the sites out there for browsing or buying. :)

Does anyone else think the latest Ireland jersey is disgusting? Wanted one for the Euros but am more inclined to troll through e-bay and pick up an old second hand one.

That website is a bit pricey

I was in Sports direct a few weeks ago and they were selling The home & Away 1989 Arsenal Jersey. The year Michael thomas got the goal against liverpool to win the league.

Yep. Not as bad as some but still not good. They should have stuck with the one they had at the start of the campaign. That's the best one we've had since World Cup 90 imho.

That was a nice one alright except for the big 3 that was on the ones being sold to the public. I understand the need for sponsors but the 3 is huge

To my knowledge most other nations have major sponsors like "3" themselves but you can still buy the jersey without the sponsor on it so that it looks like what the players on the pitch are wearing. Ireland is a rare (or possibly the only?) exception.

Ireland would be one of the only countries to even offer a sponsored version (ignoring the total lack of a non-sponsored one).

I never really minded the sponsor. My Opel Ireland shirt was tastefully done. Even the Eircom sponsor (much as I despise the company) at least matched the jersey and with the orange on the logo added a bit of colour. The BIG 3 just looks like you are a walking advertisment.

I liked the 2004-2006 home shirt

    My Favourite Irish top

The recent ones look like something you would buy in Dunnes if you could not afford the real thing

That was my first ireland jersey until my mother decided it was a white t-shirt and needed to go on a boil wash. Surprisingly the green felt opel sponsor, the crest or the adidas logo did not survive. Still gutted about that :D

ya i like this jersey , the white one was even nicer , 1992 strip. Did anyone see the new ireland jersey??

Sweet jesus its in bits , no effort to show of some heritage or cluture in the jersey and no class or style, its like a old dunnes top for 9.99 , "who comes up with this ****"?? The N.ireland strip is much nicer than ours and looks more celtic! id love to see ireland go back to adidas , umbro are crap at jersey design

In fairness the new one actually looks better than it appeared in some of the promo photos. It's certainly better than that striped yoke we had at the Euro 2012 finals but not as good as the one for the 2012 qualifiers imho.
