    Hi all,

I can't seen many races for A4 only in the next couple of months on the Cycling Ireland website. Does anyone know of any with a couple of hours of Galway.?

    Thanks

Well now that Dublin's only two hours from Galway on the motorway... these are the A4 races on my radar, I don't know about Connaught.

Sun 27th May - Barrow Wheelers GP / Emyvale GP
Sun 3rd June - Swords GP
    Tues 5th - Enfield GP
    Wed 6th - Kathleen O'Sullivan GP
Sat 9th - Christy McManus Memorial / Roundwood GP
    Sun 10th - Meath GP
    Mon 11th-13th - Leinster 3 Day
Wed 20th - Stephen Roche GP
    Sat 30th-1st July - Mullingat 2 Day

From Galway, maybe checkout Emyvale, Enfield, K O'Sullivan, Meath and Mullingar.

Also Mondello on evenings of 19 June, 3 July, 24 July, 7 Aug, 14 Aug

Gorey, this Sunday. Separate A4 over Gorey 3 Day circuit. Great, hard, hilly race.

(separate A4 only race at nearly every open event)

That Gorey race looks great, would love to do it but am away this weekend. It has a KOH competition! Are there any other A4 races which have a KOH?

I did the visit nenagh a4 race about 3 weeks ago and there was a KOH in that. Not sure of any races coming up. Gorey circuit is tough, few drags and it says on slipstream website that it is 3 laps for a4 which is around 75k I think. I'm goin to give it ago but don't think I'll last the 3 laps...

You're away? That settles it, I'm racing this weekend. Could be my last chance to get a win for a very long time! :D

Or at least until you leave for A3, which will probably be in two races' time. ;)

It's not that big a hill. Probably only a couple of hundred metres. One for the punchy types rather than the out-and-out climbers. I think there was a KOH in Clonard earlier this year but it was sort of a secret so wasn't very hotly contested (i.e I lost!).

I did the Gorey race last september in a downpour. It's a good course with something for everyone. All the A4 prizes were taken by a successful break.

I seem to remember that being very hotly contested ( I won ;) ).

Finishes on the Nag's Head, from what I hear. No doubt one of the locals will enlighten us. :)

It's all about the Nag's Head. The only hill on the course - tough but not hugely long. The circuit is near enough 20km. It's on decent enough roads, including the old N1. Think it's three times round in A4 but it could be four. There don't appear to be many hill finishes around so enjoy it!

The enfield gp is tough, I went as an A4 last year and it was run on a handicap. Was grand until the A1's caught us about 3-4 laps in and then you were chewin the handlebars trying to keep up, was my first race after a dose of a viral infection last year and boy did i pick a belter to start back.........was nearly dropped at one stage, not too sure what happened to him but I saw superlav coming from behind, id say he punctured or something, jumped on his wheel and followed him to the front of the race and then proceeded to drift all the way to the back again.Hung on in the bunch for the finish.I think it was Mark Dowling that won?.Anyways its tough, all flat as far as i can remember.

It's three evenings of relatively short circuits - last year I think it was Green Sheds/Dunsany, Mondello and possibly Stamullen's Nolan Memorial route.

This year I know it's hitting Corkagh Park, but whether that's replacing Mondello or something else, I don't know.
