    Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me the route for the first 39A (the 5.20am bus) on a Saturday morning?

The Dublin Bus website says: "b From Castleknock at 05:10 to Ongar and departs Ongar at 05:20 via Corduff, Blanchardstown Village, Constitution Hill, North King Street, Queen Street, South Quays, Heuston Station, North Quays to Baggot Street"

The part I'm specifically looking for is the Ongar to Corduff part. What route does it take and where does it stop? Or what stops/route does it take from Castleknock to Ongar?

    Cheers in advance.

Common sense would say it runs via the Blanch centre and the Ongar relief road for the first bit. After that, it's would more likely cross the N 3 on the Blanch Road and turning into Corduff and BlackCourt Avenue at the roundabout and out onto Snugborough Road via the 38 bus route It would be wise to call the garage to double check this but it would make most sense.

I'll probably give them a ring tomorrow for the finer details. Hard enough to get up at that hour without having to trek for ages to get to a stop!

it leaves myos in castleknock then onto laurel lodge up carpenterstown park follows then turns right onto carpenterstownroad over the train tracks upto clonsilla road turns left then all the way straight going past supermikes then normal 39 route to ongar. just watch out for the number on it, it might have a 111 dont worry though it's the same bus the number is just different because it deviates onto a number of other routes.
P.S. dont ring dublin bus head office, ring phibs garage.

Thanks for the info, sounds like it could be ideal to get it from Clonsilla village so. I rang Dublin Bus head-office, but the guy wasn't very convincing with his answer.

Does it stop at all the stops on the Clonsilla Road, do you know, or is it direct from Castleknock to Ongar?

The one I have in mind is this one.

Ring Phibsboro Garage - the garage inspectors will have a better idea.

    The number is (01) 703 3462.

yes the 5.20 from myos stops there. i'd advise you to be at the stop no later than 5.25. it stops at all stops it's whats called a workmans. as well as passengers it also picks up bus drivers going to other garages, hence it going towards heuston to cover Conyngham Road garage.

are the drivers "on the clock" once they are on the bus on the way to work or do they clock in in the garage when they pick up their bus ?

great to have such an early bus anyhow even if where it goes isnt in any way clear to the normal transport user.

No they are not "on the clock".

bus drivers are like anyone else that uses public transport. some have no modes of transport other than buses or trains. most drivers are on the clock only when their duty starts. so if a driver like anyone else gets in early they only start when they're due to start their shift. yes they are lucky on the 39's, if you look at other threads people like those who work in say the airport would love to have a service like this.

Spoke to a guy in Phibsboro garage, who spoke with a colleague, who passed me to Central Command/Control, who spoke with a colleague.

Basically I'm not a whole lot wiser but apparently it does go through Clonsilla. So I'll be up and about at 5.10 on Saturday morning with my change ready, keeping my ears and eyes open for a bus that may be a 39A or may be a 111! I'll wait until about 5.20 on the Clonsilla Road and if I see nothing I'll run to the Ongar Link Road. If all else fails I'll jump in a taxi.

I've taken the weekday version of this bus (which starts in Ongar), that just goes the normal 39a route until the Blanch shopping centre roundabout, where it heads to Corduff instead of the shopping centre.

Thanks a million, I'll get it from the Ongar link road at 5.25 or so.
