Heat gun is the only job. Was recently advised to use this on here & 3 cars have come out brilliantly since.:)

APC (all purpose cleaner) if you don't have a specific automotive one, you may have a tesco, lidl, aldi, etc one that could work. Dampen a soft cloth with it and try rubbing off and repeat a couple of times rinsing off with clean water. Be careful about spraying the APC on the trim, as over spray on the paint work can remove any polish or wax you have applied.

IPA (isopropyl alcohol) if you have some will also work.

You will most probably need to dress the trim again, with a trim dressing or trim restorer. I think Killian thought you wanted to restore your trim rather than remove a wax or polish. Trying to burn it off would just damage the trim.

For a bit of fun, you could try a pencil rubber or peanut butter or both:) I have read that people have used them with success, but never tried it myself.

What ever you do try, come back and let us know how you got on. Im sure lots of car owners have this issue. And pics would be great:)

Peanut butter does works quite well - just make sure you use smooth and not crunchy.

Also the neighbours will give you some funny looks and you'll have all the local dogs sniffing your car!

What also works for black plastic trims that have faded or covered in crap is to repaint them. There are specific paints available for plastics that dry to a flexible finish. I used this before on the plastics on my car and they came up great.

Use Stp "Son of a Gun" myself on the black trim on my bike and it works well.
