    Hi
I bought an iphone dock and it needs a dc 5v adapter - where would I pick one of these up (I can see them online) but would prefer to pick one up in a B&M shop if possible

Perhaps the make/model of the dock would be useful ?

Did it come with a Power Supply originally ? Has this failed ?

The Dock needs 5VDC at about 1.2 amps though without seeing the original it's impossible to determine what polarity/size the original is. That'll make it difficult to buy one in a B&M store unless they sell the dock. Have you tried Peats or Maplin ? It's the kind of thing they sell so they'd be a good place to start.

There's a few places selling them though and they specifically mention that particular docking station. Might be worth the risk for less that a tenner ?

    Thanks Ken

no powersupply came with it - but I got it very cheaply for that reason in tesco.

I didn't realise there was that much difference in these adapters - where did you see them for sale?

Maplins in Blanch should have something that will work. Their UK website shows this unit which comes with a selection of tips so you're sure to find one that will fit your device. It's also got ample current to satisfy the requirements.

There's a good chance that the Blanch store has these but expect to pay over 30 quid for it !

I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives about though. As long as it's 5 VDC capable of over 1.2 Amps and has the correct tip to fit your device or interchangeable tips then you're sorted.

Cheers Ken - I won't go for the €30+ option but I have enough info now to go looking online

    thanks

Power City sell that type of unit as well, voltages are typically 3/6/9/12 and you have multiple tips and can reverse the polarity.
