Possibly, but probably expensive. If it has a PCMCIA or Expresscard slot, look for a LAN card to fit that, or a USB/RJ45 adapter, these would be cheaper than someone to fix the old socket.

There's not many of that model selling on ebay, either they're not popular or don't last long.

How exactly do you know it's "broken".. ??? Are the pins inside damaged?

the network connection is intermittent..it works sometimes and othertimes it doesn't..so possibly you are right..the pins are probably damaged...

Do what bonzodog suggests. Repair may not be cost effective.

Nah, if the pins were damaged you wouldn't have intermittent connection, it just wouldn't work. Sounds to me like a dodgy cable - replace that first.
A second possibility is a malware or virus - is your antivirus up to date? Have you scanned with malware bytes?

Does your laptop not have wireless or no wireless router?
If your router is wireless, why not buy a cheap wireless USB NIC. only about €12 on ebay.

its likely the soldering on the underside of the network port has cracked.

if you take it to a repair shop they could soften or touch up the soldering and allow it to reseal the cracks
