This might not be in the right place but anyway
My computer (Dell Inspiron Duo) is about three months old. It' been bad with small problems from the start. First about two days after I got it the brightness started going mad, it would fade in and out like a power cut or an earthquake in a movie. It's very irritating but nothing I can't deal with. Then about a week after it stopped turning off. So basically I always had to manually force it off with the power button and sometimes that didn't even work. I thought my computer might be becoming sentient and refusing to turn off, but no it went the other way and now it's just retarded. Then it "recovered from an unexpected shutdown". I thought "no biggie. I've done this before. it's all grand" and it went to do the disk check, but it wouldn't actually do a disk check. this kept up for a while and I started to suspect something more sinister was going on. Then one day about a week and a half ago, out of the blue (haha) it blue screened. this is what it said the problem was: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
It's happened multiple times now. The screen told me to check any new installed hardware or software. check. nothing seems to be wrong
    I installed:
    Chrome
Java SDK and assorted dev tools
    eclipse
    audacity
    o2 broadband thingy and dongle
    itunes and 2 ipods
    fraps (illegal but it works)
    utorrent (now gone)
    minecraft and modds
    google earth.
So my question is... WTF is going on?

Could be any number of things but as it's only 3 months old you're best option is to send it back to Dell for repair/replacement. What warranty came with it?

run a diags check on the disk, shutting it down the way you did is not good for the hard drive.

It could be a corrupt install of windows. Try a reinstall? But i'd send it back to dell, and demand a refund as the laptop isn't performing as you expected.
