The answer might be short on detail, but then so is the question.

What kind of sat box would you be talking about, do you have one already, whats the make and model etc. Have you tried any usb drives already? If you've got a €50 sat box, your not likely to spend €80 on an external 1TB drive. If you've got a HD box, it would use about 4GB for 1 hour of HD recordings.

I use http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/2763421/art/seagate/expansion-portable-extern.html but I got it cheaper in a sale.

If you post more detail, you'll usually find someone here has already done the leg work and is willing to share.

Apologies thought it was a simple question. The sat box i bought the other day was a Ferguson Ariva HD combo. Dont have any other sat box's or usb's at the moment, from what you say i gather at least 16 gigs is needed.(did'nt write the last post by the way.)

I've bought USB sticks from this crowd in the past : http://www.mymemory.co.uk/

Generally they are pretty good value.

Got one yesterday and plugged it into my Samsung TV which allows you to record, the TV formatted it but said it was not good enough for recording purposes. Gave it back today. I was told by a guy in the know that an external hard drive is the only way to go for recording.

in fairness how difficult is it to find out how much one costs.? if the op can post on boards then they should be able to search for a price of usb storage.
