Canon EOS AE-1

    Hi Folks,

I have a Canon EOS AE-1 (SLR). It dates back quite a bit. I'd love to say that it works 100% but I remember the last time I tried it, it did appear to take photos but never checked properly. The flash unit works but the trigger for it via the camera does not seem to. It used to. The last time I used it properly and thought it worked was 15 years ago at Niagara Falls. When I got home the roll of film was blank...Doh!
Not sure if this is the right place to put this thread, if there is any one willing to take it off my hands or suggest something. Do people buy these for spare parts??
    Cheers

    Rich

Check EBay completed listings for suggested prices, stick it up on adverts at that price + 20%, someone will argue you down. Document everything about the camera on the description, including the accompanying lens if there is one and all its details. Ideally put a roll through it so you can say it works.

I'm not really up on Canon, but as far as I know the AE-1 was an FD mount, not an EOS mount, right ?

Yeah, it's FD mount. I paid about €100 for mine about four years ago. It was mint and had just been serviced. It was also the one that was all black and not black and silver.
Do you have another flash you could test on the camera? I've used my 580EX flash on my AE1 and it works fine.
