Possible Issue with Windows Live Updates

For the past week, everyday I have a Windows Live Update icon in my notifications task bar. each time I've clicked on it, allowed the update to install and be presented with a screen saying the update was successful. Yet I still keep getting the icon, telling me updates are available.

Surely they're not new updates one after another? I presume when I've done the install it didn't actually work? Any idea why I'm having this problem? Should I just un-install all of Live Essentials, and re-install? Will that retain my current settings/logs for Windows Live Messenger?

    There could be hidden ones.

Are you running windows 7 or XP?

With windows 7 (or XP) go to Start - All Programs - Windows Update.

7 will bring up it's own control panel-like page with updates.
XP will load up IE and show you if you've any hidden.

Its is possible that you have a backlog of updates to install also.

dont get windows live essentials 2011 its horrible.......

    1. it has a massive memory leak which lags out your pc after 10 - 20 mins
    2. it has no option to disable automatic mic gain (thus muting your mic all the time) if you use vista or win 7

stick with windows live essentials 2009 for now

you can get it here http://www.oldapps.com/msn_messenger.php?old_msn=22
