    Is this a good buy? Or can it be got cheaper.

    18mnth old rarely used Canon eos 1000d digital slr 10.1mgp with 18-55mm zoom lens, 2.5ml screen, pop up flash, battery charger all discs and box. €300.

    You can always get it cheaper but you could also pay more for it too.

    You can always bargain down on adverts but there's also people with unreal expectations on price. Like people who bought a digital camera 5 years ago and expect it to be still worth a lot of what they paid for it.

    Ask him how many shutter actuations are on it before you do anything. See if this 'rarely used' description stands up. It's usually a lie!

    These cameras are rated for 100,000 actuations. If it's at, say, 30k+ you might have some leverage to bring the price down a bit.

    Oh and I agree re: dslr prices on adverts.ie. People honestly believe that €600 is a fair price for their body-only 50D...
