    Hi all,

Looking to change my car within the next few weeks and have decided on an RX400h, have heard too many horror stories about X5s, Ml's and Range Rover Sports reliability issues!

The only worry is the batteries, and their replacement, and warranty etc!

Prefer to get some unbiased advice before getting all the fluff from a Lexus salesperson.

Anyone have experience with the Rx hybrid? Do the batteries need to be replaced etc?

    Cheers guys

As far as I know the battery warranty is the same as the Prius, 8 years or 100k miles, whichever comes first.

I don't think you'll encounter any issues. Toyota hybrids seem to have a great reliability record. Lots of prius taxis around with hundreds of thousands of miles on the clock. I think a prius comes with an 8 year full warranty on the battery too. Not sure if Lexus is the same.

I'm also not sure if a RX400h is a full hybrid in the same way as a prius, but I know a prius is supposed to have low maintenance costs due to no timing belt, alternator or starter which can wear out and need replacement.

Generally Lexus come out top or very close to it in a lot of international reliability and customer satisfaction surveys so I'd say you are probably alright buying one of these generally.
