My friend is returning from USA after a two year stint. While she was away her house was locked up and unused. I know the house is as she left it.

Is it ok to just turn on the ch . boiler or is there anything to watch out for ?
There is still about half tank of oil left.

    Thanks.

Pump could be siezed would be a common problem the boiler should cut out itself if it is , was someone maintaing it while she was away with the cold winter last year ?

There is a big flathead screw cap in the middle its obvious if you look at the pump take that off and stick in the flat head and it should catch and turn the pump a few times.
Just be aware though that sometimes they just plain neeed replacing after siezing so just start the system and see
