I got JPX pros last year. they are class clubs. a real solid performer. Forged for feel and a big sweet spot and cavity back for forgiveness. If you are really serious go to foregolf and get them fitted. You'll have these irons for years. Alternatively saw them on sale in golfstyle last week for 399.

    MP 53 > both

I have the MP53, best clubs i've had.....the good shots are very good and the bad shots (of which there are plenty) aren't very bad....

    is the mp53 very forgiving??

I like the look and feel of them...they have the appearence of more traditional irons. My pro was using titliest APs and he switched to them after trying mine.....

Once you have a reasonable swing they are nice irons to hit and you can shape your shots with them....if you're a beginner, i'd look at something else.

playing off 11 and have a very quick swing speed for irons around 115, was recommended ap2s and jpx pro but have heard the mp53 arent much different to jpx

    similar handicaps and swing speed....

my previosu mizunos were stolen about two years ago....went to a friend of a frien (has a pro shop on one of the main golf courses) to get fitted for new irons. The first thing he asked me was what my handicap was and then what was i using previously.....once i said mizuno, he siad there was no point in showing me anthing else....once you use use mizunos you never look at other clubs apparently....I disagreed with him and asked to try a few irons....he was right!

I have the Mizuno JPX800 Pros for about 6 months now. I love them. Great irons.

I was between them and the MP-53s. Loved the MP-53s too but i thought that little extra bit of forgiveness of the 800 Pros might come in handy on those all too frequent bad days :D

I have JPX 800 Pro's about 3 months now and love them.

Can't comment on the AP2's or MP 53's.

Lads either that machine is jacked up or you are takin the piss. Thats a good pga average swing speed with a driver right there, let alone a 7 or 6iron etc. Alvaro Quiros wouldnt even hit his irons at that speed. At those speeds you're talking over 220yds carry with a 6iron and over 320 carry with a driver, pigs shall start flying very soon

that was a driver swing speed a few years back....dialled it back a bit now and not surprisingly hitting more fairways.....

Yeah i hear ya, other dude up there though is talking about irons. Ive a 6i ss of about 95mph (driver about 115) which i need to keep an eye on or it can get overswingy towards the end of a round, im trying to keep the tempo more moderate, very hard to hit it sweet swinging that fast with an iron..115mph with an iron is just, well i dont have the words :D

in fairness maybe he's gone metric and is in KPH

Oh No the great swing speed debate dont go there aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh

    I'm at 115 mph . :p (for driver)

Anyway, have a set of JPX 800, not pro.

The ball goes a mile. Actually, i don't like how far they go. I would love someone to have look at lofts on them. I wonder are Mizuno dropping loft on GI irons too.

I hit a 7I 170 to 180 yrds. I think they are crazy how far they go. The reason this is a problem is your PW can go 140 yrds. You are then in art form trying to get a set right from 140 yrds down. You are then into a different club for wedges most of the time.

The point being , in futrue i will look at distance control more when i buy irons, would not even have entered my head till i had JPX clubs.

Yep theyre extremely strong lofted clubs dude, 3 to 4 degrees stronger than most sets. 44* PW!! 40* 9 iron lol Was the same with my old burners, i hit the ball a good distance anyway but those clubs just make you think you're alvaro quiros at times

    Thanks Tones,

It is a real issue, for lads who swing fast, but are crap so need GI clubs. When you do play well it means your set is a problem. You then buy a wedge set, but to get from 140 yrds to 80 , you need a set of wedges.

Anyway this delofting can catch you out. Perhaps it is an issue for a small number of players, but got me.

Not really, you just gotta know which club gets you a certain distance, whether it says 6 or 7 on the sole of the club means nothing. I think they should start putting the *loft on the sole nistead of numbers IE: 23*/26*

What do you think of the JPX 800 (non pros). Am looking at them at the moment as want a bit more forgiveness. Not looking at them for length but more so for off centre hits. Irons im using at the moment are old X14 pro's and are not the most forgiving.

I guess you have done this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOD-OdFxBQg

Anyway, i did a major step up in clubs. So anything was a major improvement. I love them. Very forgiving and nice feel when you hit it right, when wrong a bit heavy but forgiving, you will feel it in the hands if a very poor off center.

Make sure you go and hit them before and test a few. Only way to do it IMO.

As Tones explained they are (and other clubs) are 1 club strong. It means you will find you need an extra wedge in your bag as the PW is an old 9 iron.

So for me 110 yrds, 100 yrds are a totaly different club type, (But i think there is a JPx wedge set now ?

I don't know for sure, but would not look or play well enough for a lad in single figures.

    Ya, seen that video, cheers.

Have hit them off a mat before and a vector launch monitor showed I hit my own consistently further. My own have more loft too, but I am putting that down to shafts.

There is just something I like abt them and ultimately I want a more forgiving Iron for now.

Might pick up a second hand set if the opportunity arises.

Saw a secondhand set of 800 pros today in v good nick.
They were 3-pw and has s300 shafts.
Question I have is what swing speed would I need for the s300 shafts and does anyone know what type of s300 shaft is likely to be in them as I forgot to look.
They were a good price and am very tempted to take a gamble on them.

My Son playing off 2.2 uses a set of JPX 800 Pros and likes them a lot. The Club Pro was looking at them one day and is still talking about them since!

However, I noticed his two friends using the AP2 's at the week-end!

The AP2's have a nicer head-shape, I would go for those, or the MP-59's are worth a test, very nice iron. JPX's play better than they look, quite a decent feel to them even though they have stronger lofts which I don't like, can't go wrong with either of them. Can find used sets of both in abundance on ebay.

Did you test the Cleveland 588 and the Adams CB3. I have heard from many fitters Stateside that those 2 sets are getting the highest results for the widest number of players, they are not sets that the punters chose or go for until they try them at the fittings, and they sell lots of them cos of the positive results on the monitors, both sets must be worth a test.

I bought the 800 pro's this time last year, KBS tour stiff shafts, standard lie and loft - im around the 6ft mark. Swing it fast with a bit of a cut, but spin is my big problem

They're brilliant. Simply excellent. Your hands tell you everything - You know when you've hit a good one, you know when you've hit a bad one, you can muscle, shape and spin them if you know how. The titleists are a fine club, but just didn't have the same feel for me.

I jumped from Di7's to these and lost 6.5 strokes (to 11.9) in 12 months - obviously not all the clubs! - but they allow you to learn what you're doing wrong, without hurting you too much in the process. but when you start getting it right, they reward you to!
