I have no idea which poems to learn for junior cert. My english teacher is telling certain poems and my grinds teacher is telling me completely different ones and to stay away from the ones my teacher told me to study. I need help on what poems are most important! Comments would be greatly appreciated

Your grinds teacher is telling you to stay away from the ones you spent time studying in class?

I think it would be better if your grinds teacher did the ones you have already spent studying..besides wasting your class time.

Just out of curiosity, are you getting grinds in many subjects for you Junior Cert?

Just learn any poems you want. Oh, and in June....ensure you use capital letters where appropriate, punctuation and don't write in big annoying writing.

I recommend forgetting about the poems altogether, just work on your grammar.

Here's a nice little exercise to get you started. Let me know how you get on :).

Why would she forget about the poems? That would leave out a whole section on Paper 2.

OP, I recommend to go for your grinds teachers poem's if you feel you would be able to write about them in the exam. If not, use your English teachers poems. May I ask which poems each are asking you to study. At least 6 would be ideal.

It was a failed attempt to be funny. He was saying that the OP should focus on basic grammar, punctuation etc. because of errors in his/her posts, even though that can be annoying it was a little harsh..

And, yeah, do 6 or 7 poems and 3 or 4 of those in detail. Our teacher told she was avoiding ''Midterm Break'' by Heaney because it was too commonly used so maybe if you were doing that one in school you could do a different one in grinds?

    OP,
Using large font / multi-coloured text is also both unwelcome and unnecessary.

    It's a standard boards.ie rule.

    ?

Yeah true :pac: . And also because I don't really like stupid questions and people who spend loads of money on grinds (I might be being a bit harsh, but seriously for the Junior Cert anyway I think it is not necessary. If your textbooks aren't helpful enough then try the internet or the library.) How are you supposed to get anything done yourself in college or in life if you need to pay someone 30 euro a week to help you with your exams.

Thanks yous have been real helpful:)

In what way exactly? I'm sorry if I'm coming across as being a right asshole but I just think your question was stupid.

Its not laods of money? and it is necessary for me to get grinds in them subjects because i want to acheive the highest possible grades and whats wrong with getting help? It doesn't mean I'm Weak or your any better than me it means i actually want to suceed, if u think my question is stupid then you shouldnt have commented.

Assuming you have been doing the grinds since the start of 3rd year it's over €1000. That is a lot of money?

I didn't say I was any better than you (or that you were weak).
Grinds aren't automatically going to get you the highest possible grade either (granted they may help). There's nothing wrong with getting help. I never said there was.

It's just that I'm surprised that with all your grinds and outside support that you still felt the need to come here and ask whether your grinds teacher or normal teacher's poems would be best to study (because you couldn't possibly do both).

Here's my answer: Do the ones your grind teacher says, after all you paid a grand for his excellent teaching skills that will enable you to get the best grade possible :).

In my opinion it's more your parents who want you to succeed. If you yourself wanted to succeed then you would have been working hard from 1st year and thus would not require the extra grinds (I doubt you are funding the grinds yourself??)
