Considering the front mech! Have ya got matching shifters by any chance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 441 ✭✭Joey Joe-Joe Jr

    No shifters I'm afraid.
If your interested in the mech just make sure your tube is 31.8 as it is the band-on type. :-)

I don't see why it wouldn't be but will double check! How long have ya had the Cranks and BB? Much use on them?

Edit: Just seen 300km! Did you take them off a new bike or something?

I bought them second hand myself a few weeks ago. The guy I bought them from had done "less than 200 miles" on them before upgrading/switching to SRAM.

I'm building up a bike and spotted them for sale so i thought I'd give a standard double a try.
Well, I tried and realised I'm not yet ready for a 39 (unless it's on the back!).

From the appearance I'd be surprised if he had even done 200 miles on them, they're immaculate.

What size ring do you have at the moment? I've a 34. Did you try fit the bottom bracket? What size is it? Don't particularly need either but would be nice to have :P

I'm running a 34 on the front and a 25 on the back.
I didn't ever fit the BB - as regards the size i will give you all the figures off the label, not sure what some of them mean if I'm honest :-) - 68, BC 1.37 x 24, L <109.5> R

Actually would there be much of a difference on the climbs between a 50/34 and the 53/39? if i wanted to put my sora 34 inside chain ring on the crank arms would this be possible?

I'm no expert in gearing and I know here are plenty on this forum who are and will hopefully come in on this - but I would say yes there would be a noticeable difference on climbs. If you are running a 34 no and find yourself regularly in the lowest gear then moving to a standard double with a 39 will probably require you to get some bigger gears on your cassette.

I thinks its pretty unlikely that the 34 from the Sora will be compatible but again I'm open to correction.

Hi, if they're still available, would you take €60 for both the Crankset and BBracket ?

    I would indeed! :)

I'm living in Dublin 6W and I work in Rathcoole, so collection/meet up in one of those areas is preferable.
If you are a bit further away I can check out the postage costs.

    Hi Joe,

That's great cheers. I'm in Hatch St, off Leeson St, so not too far away. I'll PM some details shortly.

Both trh and demonreedler were absolute gents and a pleasure to deal with.

Still have the front mech and seatpost.

    I also now have an FSA OS 120 100mm stem - 31.8

This has been used only once on a 100km spin but it is too long, I am looking to swap it for an 80 or 90mm stem preferably similar or Ritchey Comp
