Right, I need a new pair of runners. What's a fairly good brand that will provide adequate support when running on tarmac? My last were reebok and were pretty crappy.

Also, what's a good place in Dublin to shop for them? Anywhere wear the staff know what they;re talking about?

I got a pair of Adidas Duramo for €50 in a branch of Elverys a few weeks ago. I find them quite nice for running on tarmac.

    Hi,

There's some good info on shoes/gear in the first post here. The main thing you need to do, is go to a proper running shop and get fitted. Bring your old runners with you so they can see the wear and they will look at your gait and discuss what you need.

I've had good experiences with Amphibian King, I've got my last 2 pairs of shoes from the Bray branch but they're in Ballymount too.

I've been into a couple of Elvery's and in Dundrum they seemed determined to sell me orthotics before they even looked at my feet/gait. There was a guy called Simon in the Suffolk St branch who was helpful and knowledgable about shoes in general and interested in finding what suited me but he seemed to be an exception. They didn't have what I needed so ended up going back to AK.

I've tried some other running shops around town and have been given wrong information and/or bad service so Amphibian King is the only shop I can really recommend from personal experience.
