Insurance Question

    Passed my test last week

Sent off for my full license today and the lady said it would take 4 weeks,

I'm taking out insurance some time this week, is having a receipt for applying for my license good enough to take out a policy?

Or do I have to wait until the day I receive my license, which is ages away to tell the insurance company?

Only the insurer in question can answer that. I changed insurer after misplacing my license and they were happy to allow me time to send them in a copy.

You should have shown them the certificate of competency which a lot of them will accept as proof that you've passed the test (I fax'ed it into Axa when I passed my test just before my renewal and it was acceptable) but as you've sent that away you'll have to wait for the full licence and show it to them.

I'm not sure if the receipt actually states that its for a full licence, if it does you could try that but I'd say they'd prefer the CoC or the full licence.

Its with FBD the receipt from the Co Council says application for full license, I'm not waiting four weeks to show it to get insurance, the receipt should be ok

Your licence number stays the same so as long as have that and proof you have sent off for the full licence it's fine

I dropped in my forms last Tuesday after the bank holiday and had my Full licence on the Thursday. They say it takes longer but you should get it in a few days.

I think it varies, some places have a huge backlog others don't but fingers crossed !
