Camera shops in New York?

Hi folks, have any boardies here been to New York that could recommend any good camera shops worth paying a visit? I know of the the big ones like B&H and Adorama, but I was wondering is there anything else I should check out while Im there?

Im looking at picking up a 5D mkIII while Ill be there in september. It seems to be much the same price everywhere at the moment, €3499 for the body with a few shops chancing their arm and adding a few hundred onto that. Anyway Im hoping it'll have gone down by then, even a bit. Either way Im sold on it.

Actually while Im on the subject, do any of you ave any cool and perhaps lesser known things for a photography enthsiast to check out while hes there? Obviously ill be doing all the usual tourist bits and bobs but Im sure theres plenty of lesser known but still equally as good attractions that might lend itself towards some particularly cool shots.

Any help or advice is appreciated.

I'd stick to B&H & Adorama, any others are aimed at tourists and will try and flog you anything and everything!

For photos - STREET heaven :)

I'd have to say B&H is the shop to go to there.

That's one shop I'd love to go to.

OP, Just be mindful of their opening hours.

They're run (and largely staffed) by Orthodox Jews, so they don't open (or even accept internet orders) on the Sabbath - meaning they close early on a Friday and all day Saturday. They also observe Jewish holidays, and are closed on those dates. All info here:

Very impressive shop though, you see a lot of people walking round with their mouths open, I'm sure I was one of them.

Cheers folks, sounds like B&H is the way to go. I found another slightly smaller store 42 Photo that looks like it will be worth a visit too. I dont know whether Im more looking forward to seeing New York itself or getting the 5D mkIII....still a few months to wait yet.
