Okay here. And according to this there are no server issues at the moment.

Everything seems to be back to normal now

Just to clarify there was an outage. Although Apple didn't update the iCloud status to tell people until after the outage happened. More details here.

Didn't effect me although it was on for 90 mins.

It's always going down anyway. Apple really need to improve the reliability of their mail servers.

Really hope Apple don't start dropping the ball on things. I've started to see small little glitches and problems appear with things more and more frequently. Now that Steve Jobs isn't there pushing for perfection I hope they don't all become relaxed with things.

It's difficult to hit the ground running with these kinds of services, especially when they've probably got thousands of new users joining every day. iCloud's problems are nothing compared to MobileMe, which was a disaster when it launched. But in fairness, email is really the only aspect of iCloud that I've encountered problems with and even then they've been few and far between.

Sorry should of been more clear SP. I meant with overall problems. iPhone 4S seemed to have more issues than any previous iPhone out there. Then when iOS 5 was released loads of activation and download server problems. Even the other day I updated my Apple TV and now the Trailers.app won't work anymore. Even now my iPad 3 is having Wifi problems. Mainly with range. Having my iPhone 4 side by side with the new iPad, both of which connected to the same wireless modem, and the iPhone 4 has 1-2 bars while the iPad constantly disconnects and have to keep changing position to get it to work.

All small little glitches but ones I never had before.

Then you were very lucky because as long as I've used Apple products there's always been small glitches and imperfections. But in the past there wasn't a large network of bloggers reporting it in every detail, so it was possible for those users unaffected by them to live in blissful ignorance.

Personally I've encountered no problems whatsoever with the 4S or iOS 5. In fact, overall I would say I experience far less bugs and problems with Apple devices now then I did in the past. The early versions of OS X were a nightmare; most of the iBooks were horribly designed machines and the subsequent Plasticbooks weren't much better; and the AppleTV in it's original form was an overpriced joke. Hell, I had a white 2006 iMac in which the WiFi didn't work - at all - for a whole year. There was a thread several hundred hundred pages long about in on the Apple discussion forum, but it still took Apple a year to fix it. They were shipping the bloody machines like this.

I understand what are saying, but I think it's mistake to ascribe the current series of glitches to Steve Job's absence. His perfectionism is deeply ingrained within the company in all the ways that matter. In the short term, his passing will have little impact. If anything I think things will improve and the company will become more responsive to its users. It's in the long term that his absence will really be felt.

Oh and speaking of bugs, I seem to be experiencing major delays receiving email on my iCloud account at the moment. I have received no email to the account all day, which is unusual.

    Has iTunes match improved much?

No. Unless you really need it and don't mind paying to be a beta tester, I would recommend staying away until it improves.

Well I'm not really saying its definately down to Steve's passing. I'm just saying I hope it won't go down that route. As I understand Steve had a lot of power and people really feared him too as far as making mistakes. I always felt it was that fear and his dedication to perfection that made Apple how amazing it actually is. People didn't wanna mess up, and he would never let anything ship that wasnt 100%. Then again it's probably just bloggers and exaggeration.

Haven't been using Apple too long but everything I've bought from Apple has been amazing. Just a few glitches I've noticed lately. Hopefully just coincidence.

BTW dunno about iCloud Mail as I don't use it really but everything else is working for more. All syncing fine. Maybe just a small delay for iCloud.

As Sad Prof gave examples of they often did. 12 inch Powerbook 867MHz would fry an egg on the bottom of it, and there was no fix. Powerbook G4 Titanium was terrible for the paint to flake off it.
A manager in the call centre in Apple told my colleague that she should "be happy" to get one of the first Titanium PBs out, rather than an end of the line "Wall Street" top of the range PB.....Not at all impressed when we all cracked up laughing at him, after pointing out that we were the people who take all the irate calls on new Apple products......:D

Apple have the largest test audience in the world, people are willing to put up with crap first generation products from them for some reason.
