Secondary Schools - Dublin 14

Hi,

Can people recommend secondary schools in Dublin 14 for boys or mixed and preferably non fee paying.

DBS over at meadowbrook is a mixed non fee paying school, never went myself but everyone in my area went and it never seemed to do any harm to them, anyone I know who went there is reasonably intelligent with a good job, you will always get a few fools but sure you get that in fee paying private ones too.

Del la Salle in churchtown in a boys school and a good school too my nephew goes there and loves it again non fee paying just the usual contribution that all schools ask for

St. Benildus and St Tiernans are D14/16/18, not sure which. Not sure if they're non- fee paying but I think they are.
Don't know much about either of them though

The High School in rathgar (but it stretches back to churchtown) is an excellent mixed school but unfortunate is fee paying. There's got to be some non fee paying in Dundrum though??

Go to schooldays.ie and you can do a search via postcodes in Dublin.

Do you mean BCS - Ballinteer Community School?

Over the other end of Ballinteer is Wesley College - mixed and fee-paying.

Bcs and tiernans are both community schools and would have the mixed population of students you would expect from many backgrounds....some that you may not wish your child to be with as they may be disruptive saying that i know people who did really well from both schools but they were sensible and had the ability to stick to the right path. Bcs is a brand new building now with excellent facilities too.

My choice if i was choosing though would be benildus, the boys from that school just seem to be a nicer bunch of lads. Again i know people who did very well coming from that school.

There is oatlands in stillorgan, might be outside your reach though, and colaiste eoin on the stillorgan dual carriage way.

Other than all the above and de la salle i think you would have to be paying fees....

Im awful with locations and the suck though, Dublin 14... Is that more Dublin city or county west/north/south?

yeah sorry did mean bcs, yes you get kids from all walks of life but isnt that what its like in the real world also didnt a TD's son and three others get expelled from oaklands for bulling a teacher recently.....just because its fee paying and apparently "posh" doesnt mean they behave like decent human beings:rolleyes:

Oatlands is not fee paying and not posh. Good mix of kids from different backgrounds...

My old alma mater Coláiste Éanna CBS in Ballyroan?

Quite some time since I was there but it used to be a good school. Non-fee paying apart from the (then) weekly reminders about the "voluntary contribution".

Coláiste Éanna. Deadly sporting school, pretty good academics, everyone's really happy there, brilliant science labs and other specialist rooms (woodwork comes to mind-always well supplied and super modern)
