Hi Guys I've tried looking on the job seekers allowance website etc. but i can't make head nor tail of it to be honest.

I am a 22 year old student who has just finished exams and currently have no work. I finished up my third year in college ( ordinary degree) and am not yet sure if i will go on next year . I have been concentrating on my college work so have only worked one week this year but last year worked around 20 weeks.

I currently live at home with my parents , one of whom has a very well paying job. Where do i stand with reguards to financial help ? am i entitled to anything ?

    Thank you

Swing into your social welfare office, they'd be the best bet.

If you've finished your degree then you can apply with a letter from the college saying you've finished (you can get one from the SW Office) and will also need to fill out various forms stating your work history, PPS number and so on.

As you live at home and have a parent in a well paying job, their income can be taken into account. Basically you take their net income, subtract rent/mortgage payments and so on although if you're unemployed and finished college then you can definitely claim something.

You'll be entitled to €144 a week at most (given your age) although this can be reduced based on your parental income as above.

Just swing into your SW office, explain your situation and they'll give you the necessary forms and advice.
