Tax Insurance Registration of new used car

Can anyone tell me how this works.
As i understand it, the motor tax office won't issue a tax disc without registration and insurance.

Registration usually has to be done through Shannon (seller sends form off and buyer gets it back in days/weeks?). Motor tax office can't tax it without registration. Unless i persuade seller to give me the form to give to the tax office?

The insurance can be transferred immediately but evidence of insurance (disc) may take a few days. So even if i have the form above, i could still be waiting to get tax. Is email notification of insurance transfer good enough for the tax office if i don't want to wait for a disc?

    Anyway to expedite this?
Or should i just worry about registration of ownership and insurance transfer and get the tax in due course when they come.
    Thanks.

Only the name of your insurer is all that's required.
I think shannon are now texting change of owner.

go to the motor tax on line site...hit the "retreive PIN" button and you can tax the car immediately so long as it has been put in your name in the records. I did mine and got the tax disc before I got the taxbook.
