It's takes a whole year to do the course. A flying school can do the same in a few weeks. If you're not in any hurry it's fine.

    Hi all,

I found this course run by DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology). Aeronautical - Private Aircraft Pilots' License Theory?

    http://www.dit.ie/study/parttime/programmes/dt063privateaircraftpilotslicensetheory/

I am looking into getting a PPL and I'm wondering is there any advantages of doing this course?

    Thanks

I would strongly advise AGAINST doing this course! For a start €1200 is crazy money for the PPL ground school.
What I would advise is to register with one of the bigger flight schools and complete a PPL ground school course. It is usually spread out over a number of weekends.
NAtional Flight Centre charge around €500. Which is still a little pricey in my opinion...
If you are looking to buy some study books get the Oxford Aviation PPL series. (you should be able to pick up a second hand set online)

Anyway that is my two cents worth.

Dont touch it with a barge pole...but if you should find a barge pole beat them with it for overpricing the course.

How can you spread that over a year??. I did mine in 3 weeks at NFC and passed the exams with a 97 average, so I'd go to a flight school.
I think DIT run the ATPL course like this too, but I was advised against that before as airlines care where you train and DIT isnt a flightschool. It's very similar to that DCU course that's trying to ram raid it's way into the industry.

Cheers for your replies, it sounds like DIT are over killing it a bit with price and 1 year course duration.

I could teach a monkey! PPL theory over 1 weekend! (A few quite pints, a black board and a PPL confuser will do the trick)

    Now...Who wants to volunteer

OP.. That course is a PURE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY
