Is it possible to link a PS3 controller to an Xperia S for playing games like GTA III?

Don't think so, would it not be easier just to get an Xperia Play, ICS is out for it at the start of June.

Can be done. Needs root. And a 2E app.

How does the Play fair these days? Is it a bit outdated in terms of specs for gaming, multitasking, speed etc to the 'S'? The slide out controls is definitely a winner though. Anyone that owns one have an opinion? Also, since it's been around for a while now, is there any news on an Xperia Play 2?

S blows it out of the water spec wise.

IMO, you'll use it as a gaming platform maybe 10% of the time, so the usual smartphone functions are way more important than the hardware keys.

Seen a Logitech wireless PS3 controller working with an unrooted S.
