€80 for no brand tyres in that size is madness, first step....a different garage.

For literally a few Euro more you'd get Bridgestones or similar. Have a look for the likes of Hankook and Kumho as they are excellent quality mid range tyres.

Where in munster are you? My local fitter can supply and fit Hankook's for less than Eiretyres can supply them

    Look at these > Hankook Ventus Prime 2 k115 @ €69 each

    Great tyre

I would expect to pay half that for unbranded tyres! You could get a decent set of used tyres for 80. If you want new tyres go for branded ones.

They could actually end up being more expensive than a premium tyre when you include fitting. Bridgestones for example can be had for €80 fitted in that size at a number of tyre dealers in Dublin. The OP needs to make some more phone calls!

    Thanks for the info.

I will have a good look around.

    The hankook look the business.

I am in very north Munster but would rather spend a few quid on diesel and travel a journey than be ripped off locally.

I had Bridgestones on this car when I bought it. Changed the fronts to the Hankook.. Would never go back.

Theres nothing wrong with Hankook tyres, but I'd never pick one over a Bridgestone tyre. If however I had further options I'd pick neither.

As others have said €80 for a budget brand tyre in that size is crazy. It is a very common size and the price difference between Chinese crap and something decent is very small. So it is madness to buy anything less than a good brand in that size.

For example we do budget tyres in that size for €65 but we do Firestones for €75. For the extra tenner you would be mad not to go for the Firestone. Still plenty of people go for the cheaper option though

I didn't think this warranted a new thread but, I noticed that Tesco in the north are selling tyres now. They have a big selection and 15" hancocks (or any top brand) are £55-60 each. The might be worth a look for anyone going for new tyres.

That's not that cheap considering the exchange rate at the moment, you also have to drive up North and probably have to pay extra to have them fitted and balanced somewhere else.

I found good quality tyres at €62.50 fitted. Very happy with that.

Thanks for all the advice on here and the lesson learned is to shop around.

Well done. What brand are they?

    Hankook.

My first time with that tyre but reports are good.

They have garages to fit them but its about £15 for fitting.

I pay £15 for a used tyre that will last me a year but some people will insist on new tyres.
The advantage with tesco is that they have a huge selection.

Could only really see an advantage if you live close to the boarder to be honest.

Hankooks for that price is good deal. And i am mad at meself, as just spent 260E for kingstars sk70. Did read on them before decided, and it looks like it is cheaper brand from hankook, which sounds better than barely legal Sunnys i had before. I was offered 80 for Dunlops, but was to cheap to accept, but would buy Hankooks for 70, if only had a chance. Have to say that three of the places i've been to had only few tires available, and only one garage had actual size I wanted - but only one set of them??? Had to shift from 185/65 15 to 195/60, otherwise would spend another day looking for them. Next time will be wiser.
