You can (assuming it's pre 2010 I think) but IMHO it's not worth it any more. You'll still pay 13.3% VRT after conversion anyway.

There was talk of needing to have the vehicle converted to commercial before it was imported or you could end up paying the higher rate of vrt, I am not sure if this is the case but you would be worth checking before you did anything

Convert before VRT, €200 to pay.

SWB will more likely be 13.3% VRT, rules are as clear as mud so I stand to be corrected!

My apologies, I missed the SWB part.

Do you need to convert it before you import it?
From memory you have a fairly tight time frame to present it for vrt inspection

Bear in mind that it's from the north and no ferry involved

Would it really save much to buy up North at the moment?

There's plenty of them on DoneDeal these days for 5k or less. Granted they're more likely to have been looked after and have had an easy life if they start out as a passenger, I'm just wondering if there's much savings to be made these days?
