Cleaning Interior plastics

Just got hold of a 98 Golf that needs years of grime cleaned from the plastic panels/trim inside (and a few interior plastic scratches covered too)

I was going to go at it with a nail brush, toothbrush and a bucket of warm soapy water.

Can anyone suggest a good interior plastics cleaner?

Also, some of the plastics (door handles etc.) are quite faded, is there a product that can revive these?

I know about the WD-40 trick and "back to black" etc. but I'm looking for something that will last at least a few months.

Don't want that shiny, silicone look and feel either!!

    Any suggestions very welcome.

    Thanks.

There is no point in going out and buying anything fancy for cleaning the plastics - a run of the mill All Purpose Cleaner will do the job....the likes of Daisy from Tesco's or whatever.
Dilute it down to a weak mixture with warm water. 20:1 should be fine, 10:1 if stubborn, and use in a spray bottle. Using a soft bristle nail brush or tooth brush as you mentioned to agitate the mixture on the plastic and wipe off with a soft microfiber cloth.

For the faded plastics on the outside, there arent too many products out there that will last longer than a week or two.
One of the best things to do is use a heat gun to restore them to the original colour - practice on an unwanted piece of trim as it is quite easy to turn the finish streaky / blistered. Check it out here!!

Alternatively, there's gtechiq C4 Trim Restorer - Ive heard its a great product, but its very very expensive.

    Hope the helps! :)

Nailpolish remover did a great job for me.
For regular cleaning LIDL's wipes do a good job.
