Daewoo Lanos Airbag Light

I seem to be posted here a lot for advice. I have tried finding out the answer but haven't come to any clear advice.

I have a 99 daewoo lanos with the air bag light on. There are no error codes at all. Can an airbag light be stuck on even when there is actually no error any more? Maybe if there was low power or something to do with the battery?

Also, would anyone know somewhere cheap that has the software to reset it. It's the old OBD1 connector type. I just can't afford €50 to reset a light.

How have you determined that there is no error codes?

If the light is on, then there has to be a fault registered.

I used the paperclip method in the diagnostic slot and the flashing check engine light.

That has nothing to do with the SRS airbag system.

That has nothing to do with the SRS airbag system.

Ah right OK. I was told that all faults will appear via that system. Guess I'll need to find someone to scan it properly then.

    Exactly.

What you are diagnosing is the engine control unit - not the airbag system.

If for example it was the SDM that was the error, and it was replaced, would the air bag light turn automatically off?

Would anyone know someone in South Dublin that could read & reset the code?

Just in case anyone hasn't seen the scene that made the Daewoo Lanos the icon it is today :)

    The code came out as:

Code 10: P/BPT Short to Gnd

I have looked up the owners manual but code 10 doesn't appear on it. Would anyone know what the code means? Need to get it through the NCT by Friday so any help at all will be appreciated!

Just a guess but BTP is a Korean airbag module and P/BTP may mean passenger air bag. Short to ground possibley a loose wire under the passenger side seat connections.

Common in Peugeot cars as well.

The Daewoo Club said it was Belt Pre tensioner but I have been looking at the belts and they don't seem to have any wires going anywhere near them so can't see how it could be pretensioners.

I'll take a look at the passenger airbag module now and see.

If it has airbags then its got pre-tensioners, They are mounted in the seat base where the seat belt is attached.

Have you adjusted the seats recently ?

had a Lanos with the same fault, turned out the wire to the airbag sensor (AFAIR) was pinched by the runners for adjusting the drivers seat

Sorry for the delay in getting back. Been away for the summer. I am determined to get the Airbag light sorted by Tuesday. From the Daewoo Club they say the pretensioners are in the side pillars but there not in my car. The only cable I can see under the driver seat is the seatbelt warning light to let you know when the seatbelt isn't on.

If anyone knows someone who is good and reasonable priced please let me know!
