I want to do cycling races only, I can only find duathlons and I don't really like running, I don't want to join a cycling club, is there anyway that I can do races and buy day licenses, I'm a newbie to racing

cycling ireland club competition licence is what you need
    Club Competition Licence
This licence is €60 if you are in a club, and €90 if you are not in a club. If you are from Ulster, there is a further €10 charge. This licence allows you to race in club leagues in road racing, but not in Open Races.

covers insurance etc. you'd be better off joining a club and learning how to ride in a bunch though

Racing in a large bunch is hazardous. It is absolutely nothing like duathlon, triathlon or time trials.

Please don't just rock up at an open race without a clue about what you're doing.

Considering you don't want to join a club I would advise you to do some sportives. I was fortunate and had a buddy to give me pointers before I was first involved with group riding, I had a number of bad habits when I started and for sure I would have been yelled at in a bunch if these were not corrected.

There is no substitute for joining a club and getting tips from the more experienced/senior guys and getting out on regular group spins. It will be more enjoyable for yourself and safer for everyone else. In your average A4 race I would reckon there is over 100K worth of machinery moving along the road and we would all like to see our precious home safely.

The tour of louth is 3rd of June, sportive dressed up as a race. Give that a bash maybe.
