Claiming the dole for 2 weeks

    Hey!

My job finished up last week (I've been working part time as a student) and will be finishing my degree on Tuesday. I'm going to be emigrating at the beginning of June.

I'm a bit stuck for cash at the moment, just wondering if there's any point claiming JobSeekers for 2 weeks. I could really use the money but will be gone in June although I know I probably won't be processed by the time I leave, I'm a 23 year old who's never claimed social welfare before!

Would I be able to get it backdated? The money would really come in handy if I'm going abroad so even 2 weeks would be really handy.

    Any advice?!

Go into your local office on Wednesday, bring id,and a letter from your college/uni stating that your course is finished. If you sign off before your claim is processed, you can have any moneys owing payed into your bank account.
