I'm curious to what pedals most people on this forum use out of interest? To find out I've made a poll, excuse me if I've left out an obvious option.

At the moment I use Shimano PD-R540 SPD SL at the moment. But I like the look of Speedplay zero pedals as they're double sided and have good reviews.

I need to consolidate before I can vote. Either that or you could allow multiple answers. :pac:

multiple options would be good. and why differentiate between 105, ultegra, da and spd-sl ?

I use the cheap Shimanos and they work fine for me. I can't really see any benefit to lashing out money on Dura Ace or the like unless I am racing Ryan Sherlock in A1's or the like :p

I can't edit the poll. Guess I need a mod. Multiple options would have made sense. It would be interesting to see who uses which type from each brand out of interest and what's their opinion on them was the reason.

Admittedly I may have posted poll a bit too hastily without properly considering the answers to allow :(

All Look for me anyway, I've keo easy on the commuter, blades on the race bike and carbons as spares.

I use plain old SPDs, 424s on one bike, 520s on the other, so I guess its other for me. From recent threads, I reckon a fair number of road bikes out there have MTB pedals on them. I like them for being double sided, working with shoes I can walk in, and mostly just because I'm used to them.

Regular SPDs for me too. Double-sided, and shoes you can walk in. Can't see any compelling reason to switch to road pedals.

SPDs: PD A600's on the road bike and XTR's on the MTB. Same reason as many: I like to be able to walk around in shoes.

SPD's on my commute bikes, 'cos I need to be able to walk in my shoes.

Speedplay Zero on my "road" bikes, 'cos I don't need to be able to walk when I go for a spin (precarious toes-in-the-air sliding around on foot is fine for the minimal time I spend off the bike on a weekend spin).

Re Speedplay Zero's, I'm happy enough with mine that I've no plans to change to anything else, but some of the glowing reviews I've read of these pedals seem exaggerated to me. They are certainly good pedals but I don't find them vastly superior to my previous Look pedals (double-sided and low height are certainly notable differences so it depends on how much you value these features), whereas some reviews would have you believe that Speedplay pedals are head and shoulders above everything else which doesn't match with my experience.

I have cheap spd sl's on both my road bikes - including my work commuter and egg beaters on my MTB

Have LOOK Keo's myself. Really like them and have had no issues with them for over a year now. They were my first pedals so not much experience else where. My GF has regular spds and they seem good too. She has them on road shoes though. We're doing a bit of touring this summer and I think I'll most likely get a set and some shoes with the recess for them.... even though I do find them very unattractive! :p
