One of the great Funk Soul / Funk musicians has passed away at the age of 70: bassist Donald "Duck" Dunn. He was still playing and touring - he had been on stage in Tokyo just a few hours before he died. "Duck" held down the bass chair on many, many classic Stax recordings e.g. Otis Redding, and played with Booker T and the MGs with Steve Cropper (anyone for Green Onions?. He was also in The Blues Brothers band and film.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.
